J. Cole - Who Dat Pt. 2 f/ SD & Childish Gambino

"Who Dat Pt. 2" recently surfaced on the internet, and features a familiar verse from J. Cole and a CRAZY set of bars from Childish Gambino.  R.I.P. to the late Spencer Datt who is also featured on the track.

Listen to the remixed track below!

Jay-Z & Kanye West x Frank Ocean - No Church In the Wild [Fan Made Video]

Sorry, this isn't an official music video of "No Church In The Wild" like I thought it was, but it surely is a beautiful work of art.  In a parallel universe of sorts, the video takes place in 1862 where White slaves were oppressed and beaten by Black slaveowners. Wow.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

New Music Video: John West x Pusha T - Lovely

I was trying to vibe with the John West's "Lovely," but I'm not sure I'm there yet.  I think it's something about how he holds his mouth in the video when he sings.  Maybe I still haven't allowed more room in my heart for another White R&B singer with that first name. Or, it could be that the melody to the first verse sounds a lot like Eric Benet's "Gorgy Porgy" to me.

Anyways, watch the video to John West's "Lovely" featuring Pusha T below and let me know what you think about it.

Nuvo surely knows how to take over a music video. Kudos

Kendrick Lamar - My Mind Drifts

For as long as I live, I don't think I will ever be disappointed by a new Kendrick Lamar track, even if it is only a minute and a half.  I'll be adding "My Mind Drifts" on steady rotation, along with his other tracks from the past 3 albums/mixtapes.

Listen to Kendrick Lamar's "My Mind Drifts" below, and make sure to buy Section.80 on iTunes if you haven't already.

NEW MUSIC: Rapper Big Pooh - Medicine Man

Rapper Big Pooh, Phonte, and 9th Wonder are proof that going solo isn't such a bad idea.  All three former Little Brother members have been hard at work with their own projects, and have been providing me with consistent bangers.

Listen to Rapper Big Pooh's "Medicine Man" below, which is set to be released on the Dirty Pretty Things album both in stores and online on November 1st.

New Mixtape: Jay Sean - The Mistress

I never thought I'd be posting a Jay Sean mixtape on my blog, but after hearing "Say Yeah" featuring Lupe Fiasco, I figured The Mistress is worth a listen.  If this affair doesn't work out, it's nothing that my desktop's trash can can't fix.

If you need convincing, check out Jay Sean's smoothed out R&B track, "Say Yeah" featuring Lupe Fiasco below:

Stop Sleeping: Thurz - LA Riot

The West Coast has been on fire this year.  I'm not trying to instigate and suggest a divide as I think it's great for hip hop culture in general, but the talent from Cali is so immense yet underrated right now.

Thurz is the star member of the once popular, now disbanded hip hop duo,   U-N-I.  I was sad when I learned of the group's split, but it seems like It was for the best.  Now, I am hopeful that Thurz will be recognized as an emerging star in the game.

LA Riot is a hell of a way to debut as a solo artist.  This concept album was inspired by the Los Angeles riots of 1992, and chronicles the anger building up to the riots as well as the positive and negative outcomes from the situation.  Thurz's ability to capture these emotions is amazing along with the production and selective use of guest features.

To learn more about Thurz's journey as and artist and his process while creating the album, read his entire inteview with The Smoking Section here.

Preview three tracks from his incredible album, LA Riot below:
