The Check In: Donald Glover (Childish Gambino)

MTV VJs The Rosenthal Brothers are guaranteed to entertain whenever they interview rappers. Apparently, they were originally slated to interview Common but something came up and he ended up not performing. Instead, they found Donald Glover A.K.A. Childish Gambino and asked him all of their questions for Common. The result? Pure comedy.

Drake Reveals "Take Care" Artwork

Take Care coming 10.24.11! Here's the first of three covers for Drake's sophomore LP.  Drake left the message on his blog along with the artwork:
Feels like it's been so long. Is life moving so fast in this generation that when we desire something it begins to move in slow motion? Are we just used to getting what we want right away? Or do we require one another to feel right about all that is going on around us? Maybe our anticipation is justified by the fact that we genuinely cannot wait to share a moment again? Either way, your life and mine are scheduled to meet on October 24...I wouldn't miss it for the world.
See you soon.

Stream J. Cole's Cole World: The Sideline Story!!

Although I've been tempted with the many online links, I have yet to hear J. Cole's upcoming album Cole World: The Sideline Story.  Thankfully, I received an e-mail from J. Cole's mailing list that announced his album is available for stream and purchase, which I think is a smart reactionary move to the link.  Let's hope that when September 27th comes, the album reaches #1!

If you're like me and you want to check out the album before it officially drops, stream it legally here at J. Cole's official website!

New Music: Ja Rule - Falling 2 Pieces

Ja Rule's making sure he doesn't head to the pen without leaving his listeners with a new supply of music.  Listen his new track "Falling 2 Pieces" which will be on the October mixtape Pre PIL-2.  Pain is Love 2 has been delayed for a November/December release due to strategic reasons, and I think it's a good move.

Kendrick Lamar Freestyle on "Sway In The Morning"

Kendrick Lamar stopped by Shade 45 before his NY show at SOBs and spit some lines from "My Mind Drifts" over the airwaves for Sway In The Morning. I was hoping for something brand new, but this is still dope.

Pharrell Says Frank Ocean Is a "Black James Taylor"

Pharrell spoke very highly of Frank Ocean in his most recent interview for Vibe Magazine.  Apparently, Pharrell's been helping him out on his debut album.  I can only imagine how dope a song between the two of them would be.  Watch above as Pharrell explains how he and Frank Ocean started making music.
