Drake ft. Colin Munroe & Dawn Richard - Where Were You

If this song sounds familiar to you, take a listen to the closing track on Colin Munroe's mixtape Unsung Hero and you'll realize why. Recorded in 2010 as a potential track for Drake's debut album Thank Me Later, the previously unreleased collaboration surfaced over the weekend, which also features a verse from the beautiful Dawn Richard. I think this should've made the cut. Do you?

The day she released her EP Armor On, available on iTunes here, Dawn Richard dropped the tribal visuals to "Bombs." Expect to see some great looks and choreography on this one!

Dawn Richard Performs "Change" & "Novacane" At SXSW [VIDEO]

Dawn Richard was among the many performers at SXSW, but I'm sure she gained a number of new fans when she blended her new song "Change" with Prince's "I Would Die 4 U" and performed her remix of Frank Ocean's "Novacane." at Cielo. Dawn's new EP Armor On is set to hit iTunes on March 27th!

Dawn Richard - Fly

Dawn Richard wasted no time to give us another cut from her upcoming EP Armor On, which is slated to drop on March 27th. She's a little cocky on "Fly" but hey, she's got every right to be!

Dawn Richard - Black Lipstick

Before Dawn Richard releases her new album GoldenHeart, she's going to give her fans a prelude in the form of an EP.  On "Black Lipstick," the first single from Armor On, due out March 27th, Dawn creates a metaphor between a mysterious woman and the music industry, which serves as the concept behind the entire project.
“It’s the trap. The music industry is described as a mysterious woman. The seduction and the betrayal of her. I saw in color but as soon as my eyes set on her, all that was seen was black and white. That is when I knew I needed to put my armor on.”

Dawn Richard - SMFU (Save Me From U) [Music Video]

Dawn Richard's solo debut album GoldenHeart is getting closer and closer to being released, and I'm so excited.  After her Making The Band, Danity Kane, and Dirty Money days, I feel like her solo success is destined.  In the music video to "SMFU (Save Me From U)," Dawn is pouring her heart out on this song, and the visuals definitely reflect that.  She's killing the dance moves as usual, too.

New Music: Dawn Richard - December Sky

Now this is a Christmas song I can rock to.  Just in time for the Holidays, Dirty Money diva Dawn Richard dropped off her original track "December Sky," a preview of what's to come on her debut solo album GoldenHeart.  Dawn was inspired to write the song because:
"A lot of people won’t be able to see their loved ones this Christmas,” explains Dawn, who is readying her debut album GoldenHeart. “Whether they are serving in Iraq/Iran, in the industry, or working a 9 to 5, the truth is a lot of us aren’t able to make it home for the holidays. So this record is for them and anyone else missing their love—the sky and stars are a gift for us both because no matter how far apart we are, we are under the same sky.”

Gangstas Use Emoticons Radio, Vol. 13: R&B Leaders of the New School

I can't believe there are 13 of these now!
Hip Hop has changed dramatically over the years--almost everything is digital now and rappers can make music to anything because creativity seems endless. I welcome these changes with open arms and although there are a lot of sh*tty artists clogging the Internet, there are also incredible talents that can reach a large audience easier than ever before.

What few seem to notice is that the same movement is happening with R&B.  There are tons of amazing singers and songwriters that are participating in the progressive evolution of this genre that seems to be expanding just as quickly as rap.  I'd like to consider the standouts in R&B our "Leaders of the New School," although many who are just starting to gain major attention have been around in the industry for quite some time.

Check out a Gangstas Use Emoticons Radio, Vol. 13, a showcase of these R&B Leaders of the New School, which includes music from Miguel, Jhené Aiko, Teedra Moses, Frank Ocean, BJ The Chicago Kid, The Weeknd, and more!

Since this is "The Dime Piece" edition, I switched up my usual format and made sure I got some smoother tracks and more R&B. Hip Hop heads, don't worry.  It's still full of the hottest names in the game.  Listen below and vibe to the sounds of TiRon & Ayomari, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Terrace Martin, 9th Wonder, J. Cole, Dawn Richard and more!
